No joke.

For the past 10 minutes or so, we’d been hearing these explosions of varying sizes…they started out kinda quiet––like a car backfiring or something––and got progressively louder. The 3rd and 4th ones sounded more like a canon going off than a car backfiring, so we called the non-emergency number to report it/find out what’s going on…

As soon as we mentioned what street we live on the woman on the other end knew exactly what it was we were reporting (mind you, this is before we mentioned anything but our street name). Apparently the someone is blowing up gopher holes in the next canyon over from ours.

They’ve now been at it for the better part of an hour. Hopefully they’ll be done soon because (1) that means my dog can stop flipping out and (2) I can get back to work (periodic explosions loud/powerful enough to be felt are more than a little distracting).
